Abstract

This study aimed to record, photograph and identify traces of wild terrestrial mammals that live or move through two areas of the Atlantic Forest in the state of São Paulo, one within a Mosaic of Conservation Units and the other in the largest remaining fragment of the Atlantic Forest in the municipality of Guarujá. Data were collected using the sand plot methodology and through direct and indirect records. Six orders, nine families and eleven species were recorded. Most of the animals recorded had generalist feeding habits, followed by carnivores, species that are more demanding regarding habitat quality, indicating greater environmental conservation in the Conservation Unit.
