Abstract
In the contemporary market, characterized by high competitiveness, logistics plays a fundamental role in determining which companies and countries will succeed in supplying ethanol. In 2019, ethanol accounted for 38.2% of the fuels used in light vehicles, and from 2019 to 2030, the annual growth rate of fuel ethanol could reach 8.9%, highlighting Brazil as the only successful case of technological transition to large-scale biofuel. This increasing demand is changing the product distribution profile, making innovation in ethanol logistics relevant. As the objective of this article is to analyze the organizational changes impacted by technological innovations in logistics services, the methodological approach employed was the application of a multicase study related to ethanol supply. The results indicate that due to technological innovations in the last decade, intense organizational changes have occurred, particularly regarding the professional profile of ethanol storage and transshipment terminal operators. There was a demonstrated need for higher qualification of operators, and furthermore, companies need to provide their own training to prepare employees for new technologies.
