This study aimed to evaluate seasonally and spatially the dissolved phosphate in surface waters of two rivers with similar physical characteristics, but with different levels of anthropogenic interference. The high concentration of organic matter in estuarine water generated by forests of mangroves reduces the concentration of dissolved phosphate by adsorption process.
