Abstract
The Mangrove is an ecosystem of great ecological, social and economic importance, its extension covers a large part of the coastal region of Brazil. The presence of seedlings sprouting inside the forest is a testimony to its natural restoration. The present study aims to carry out a survey of seedlings of mangrove species in a forest in the Bertioga Channel, Guarujá – SP. To this end, two rows were made with 5 plots measuring 10x10 meters perpendicular to the watercourse. A greater distribution of the species Rhizophora mangle was found, which presented a large number of individuals in all plots studied, a different behavior from the species Laguncularia racemosa and Avicennia schaueriana, which presented high values in a few plots. The differences in the survival capacity of the three species are responsible for the distinct distribution of the species in the studied forest.
