Abstract

The Baixada Santista region currently suffers from dengue fever. As this disease is transmitted by a mosquito, it is necessary to understand the reasons why there was an increase in the incidence of this species (Aedes aegypti) in urban areas. The Faculty of Pedagogy trains future elementary school teachers and there is a need to awaken an ecological perspective in these future professionals, so that they can pass it on to future students. The work shows a simple field research proposal that demonstrates and characterizes the concept of abundance, important in the study of ecology. Considering the social relevance of the object of the work (dengue) and the future area of activity of Pedagogy students, the proposed field study brought hypotheses into discussion about the factors that influence the abundance of the species Aedes aegypti.
