Abstract

The Pe. Camille Torrend (URM) herbarium stands out in Brazil as the only one exclusively dedicated to fungi, and the collection is one of the largest in Latin America. Characteristics of the collection, regional representatives and perspectives are presented. The URM herbarium holds more than 88,000 registered fungi, most of them from collections of the North and Northeast regions of the country, mainly in the States of Maranhão, Pernambuco, Amazonas e Amapá. The collection include more than 1,200 typus, mostly deposited by Chaves Batista and staff. The entire collection is computerized and available online at INCT-Virtual Herbarium and other platforms such as GBIF, SiBBr e IDigBio. Recently are also being provided images, of macroscopic and microscopic fungi.
