HERMÓGENES LEITÃO FILHO HERBÁRIO, SÃO PAULO (SPVR) João Vicente Coffani-Nunes

Abstract

The Hermógenes Leitão Filho (SPVR) herbarium, its collection area, as well as its projects, science communication activities and contributions to the flora of the Atlantic Rainforest are presented here. The SPVR herbarium currently has about 1,479 records of vascular plants. The collection has species from the Atlantic Rainforest and associated environments, especially terrestrial herbaceous plants and a collection of ferns and lycophytes from restinga (coastal forest). It is the only collection located in the largest forest remnant of Atlantic Forest of São Paulo. Among other activities the Herbarium SPVR supports the development of courses for public school teachers and science communication.
