Abstract

The Herbarium's collection Dom Bento José Pickel (SPSF) is about to reach 50,000 dried specimens, the vast majority of vascular plants from Protected Areas of the major biomes of the state. It is collection of reference for projects Phanerogamic Flora of the State of São Paulo and Plants and Fungi of Brazil. The herbarium has two rich collections representative of Myrtaceae and Lauraceae families. The collection includes just over 7,100 species, fully computerized through an Access database and available for viewing online via the INCT-Virtual Herbarium of Flora and Fungi of Brazil and Reflora. In the coming months will begin the digitization of herbarium specimens starting with the typus (eight holotypes, 17 isotypes and 24 paratypes). The Herbarium maintains an active exchange with other official collections, such as loans, exchanges and gifts.
