HERBARY OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF ALFENAS, MINAS GERAIS (UALF) Marcelo Polo

Abstract

The Federal University of Alfenas (UALF) herbarium is relatively recent, was established in 2008 with the use of material that belonged to old herbarium of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the former School of Pharmacy and Dentistry of Alfenas (EFOA). The collection consists mainly of material from floristic and ecological research survey on forest fragments of Alfenas region (MG) and surrounding where there is a predominance of Semideciduous Forest. The UALF herbarium currently has about 2,700 records of vascular plants, predominantly tree plants. The entire collection is registered electronically (BRAHMS) and has a project to scanning the herbarium specimens and make the register in the "Index Herbarium" after the collection reach the 5000 records.
