Abstract

The Herbarium PERD (Herbarium of the Rio Doce State Park) was founded in the 1980 decade to creating a reference collection of eastern Minas Gerais vegetation. The Herbarium PERD has about 2.000 records and these samples represent Atlantic Forest species and aquatic plants. The largest collections are aquatic macrophytes species and Fabaceae and Bignoniaceae families. BRAHMS software is used for managing the database. About 40% of the collection is available for online visits through the Virtual Herbarium of Flora and Fungi of Brazil. Images of herbarium specimens are being produced for future access. The Herbarium PERD subsidizes research about species of regional flora.
