Abstract

The herbarium MCMG, established in the year of 2000, initially denominated HMC/UNIMONTES, had only 215 specimens. Currently, the collection of the MCMG has 5.103 specimens already listed, and several others under cataloguing process. The herbarium attends to UNIMONTES's scientific community, as well as all the other universities located at the city of Montes Claros, and those at the north, northwest and midwest of Minas Gerais state. At 2015 it became part of Index Herbariorium and it has stored on it’s collection, 179 bothanic families. Among these families, Fabaceae is the most common, with 802 dried specimen, of 196 specimens. The MCMG is located at the Vegetal Ecology Laboratory (LEVE), at the Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
