HERBARY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE STATE OF MINAS GERAIS, MINAS GERAIS (HUEMG) Braz Antonio Pereira Cosenza

Abstract

 The Herbarium of the University of Minas Gerais - Unit Carangola - MG, is bound to the Biodiversity Research Center - CEBIO. Was created in 2005 with regional aims and to support educational activities and scientific projects in the research areas of Flora, Vegetation and Plant Ecology, focused on eastern Minas Gerais, south Capixaba and Northwest Fluminense. Currently has a collection of approximately 6.000 herbarium specimens, adequate physical structure for processing and storage of the collection, a complete set of equipment and trained staff to carry out all herbarium protocols. The herbarium is currently receiving specimens collected through projects in the Serra do Brigadeiro State Park, Caparaó National Park and Vale do Rio Carangola, and exchange with other Herbaria.
