HERBARY OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF ESPÍRITO SANTO, ESPÍRITO SANTO (VIES) Luciana Dias Thomaz, Valquíria Ferreira Dutra

Abstract

The Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo herbarium (VIES), its collection area and type specimens, as well as its contributions to the flora of the Atlantic Forest are presented here. The VIES herbarium currently has nearly 36,000 records of vascular plants, besides fungi, bryophytes and algae, collected mainly in Espírito Santo state. Every collection is computerized and available online, and more than 4,300 scanned images. There are 39 type specimens among them: 11 holotypes, five isotypes and 23 paratypes.
