HERBARY OF THE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM OF PUCRS, RIO GRANDE DO SUL (MPUC) Cristiane Follmann Jurinitz

Abstract

The Herbarium of the Museum of Sciences and Technology of PUCRS (MPUC) has about 21,000 records, mostly angiosperms. The collection covers mainly native plants in Rio Grande do Sul. Besides the plants, the herbarium also has a fungi and lichenized fungi collection, among which stands out the genera Usnea Dill. ex Adans. The collection has ten type specimens. The entire collection is computerized and available to the public through the speciesLink system and database GBIF. The MPUC contributes to research in taxonomy of plants and fungi through scientific visits it receives and the loans it makes. It also contributes to education, providing guided visits for students at all educational levels.
