HERBARY OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF MARINGÁ, PARANÁ (HUEM) Maria Conceição de Souza, Maria Auxiliadora Milaneze-Gutierre, Simone Rodrigues Slusarski

Abstract

The Herbarium of the Universidade Estadual de Maringá (HUEM) has, approximately, 30,000 specimens, including plants, algae and fungi. Of those, 22,019 are available online; most of them (70%) are samples from state of Paraná. Leguminosae (10.25%), Myrtaceae (6.84%), Asteraceae (6.64 %) and Poaceae (4.86%) are the families with more richness. Among its collections are the ones of specimens of the Semideciduous Forest; medicinal plants; epiphytes; riparian vegetation and periphyton from the Paraná River. In addition to the biological documentation, HUEM activities include assistance to researches, teaching and extension of several undergraduate and graduate courses and outside community of the University.
