Abstract

 The Herbarium UFP was founded in 1968 and belongs to the Department of Botany, at the Center for Biological Sciences, at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. The UFP currently houses 79,679 specimens, mostly from the Atlantic Rainforest and from the Caatinga. The reference collections of bryophytes, myxomycetes and the didactical collection of fruits are especially important. The catalogue has 53 type specimens of several botanical families. Approximately 60% of its catalogue is open to on-line access through INCT – Virtual Herbarium of Plants and Fungi of Brazil.
