Abstract
The Tropical Semi-arid Herbarium (HTSA) was stablished in 1983, in the Embrapa Tropical Semi-arid, in Petrolina municipality, Pernambuco State, Brazil. Throughout its existence, it has served as a support for botanical surveys and flora potential which has contributed to the sustainable use of Caatinga flora. Currently, the HTSA herbarium includes about 7,000 plant specimens, of 196 botanical families, especially Fabaceae, Malvaceae and Euphorbiaceae. This information is organized in the Brahms system and available in the website of INCT Herbário Virtual da Flora e dos Fungos do Brasil and in the Reflora. The HTSA has also and fruit and wood collection with, respectively, 150 and 100 samples of Caatinga species.
