Abstract

 The Herbarium of Maranhão (MAR), created in 2013, has collections from flora projects in dunes, restinga and cerrado and of the Amazon rainforest of Maranhão State. The herbarium MAR currently has about 8,500 records of vascular plants, with over 5,550 records available online. It began an important collection of restingas plants of Maranhão State, with over 300 cataloged records. MAR does not have scanned images, but have been purchased equipment required for this step is initiated. Thus, it is expected that the collection will be scanned within two years. All the collected data of floristic surveys of Maranhão ecosystems are registered in MAR, which represents about 4,600 specimens. In order to strengthen partnerships, the herbarium MAR received duplicates of Herbaria MFS (315), PEUFR (127) and SP (90), contributing to the expansion of MAR herbarium records.
