Abstract

The Prof. Aluizio Bittencourt (HABIT) herbarium contains information about the flora of Maranhão state, with 6.981 records, distributed in 4.812 angiosperms, 88 ferns and 2.081 of bryophytes. All specimens deposited in the herbarium are sampled in Cerrado of Maranhão, as well as donations through the exchange with other institutions. In general, the collection has contributed to the realization of taxonomic studies and analysis of plant species for the preparation of research projects, Master's dissertation and Doctoral thesis.
