Abstract
The Herbarium Alexandre Leal Costa (ALCB) has online all specimens, including the historical plants, partly collected in Europe between 1820 and 1880. The collection account with 121,985 exsiccates of phanerogams, algae, bryophytes and fungi, whose collection represents much of the state of Bahia biodiversity. Associated with the computerization, the Herbarium ALCB has focused its activities on increasing its collection, through field trips, the scientific support to researchers, teachers, students and the local community. Partnerships with national and international herbaria to exchange samples have supported and strengthened further the inclusion of the Herbarium in the national scene. The next step of the Herbarium is to scan the entire collection and make it available online, collaborating with future projects aimed at cataloging the Brazilian Flora.
