HERBARY OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST OF PARÁ, PARÁ (HSTM) Thaís Elias Almeida, Leandro Lacerda Giacomin

Abstract

The HSTM herbarium of Universidade Federal do Oeste do Pará and its proposal to decentralize the botanical knowledge of the Brazilian Amazon are presented. The collection, with about 5,000 specimens mostly from western Pará, is being recovered and the space revitalized. Complete digitization of the collection is undergoing and the database is expected to be available to the public soon. Resources have been gathered to allow generating images of specimens that will be also available for consultation in the future. We hope that HSTM become a regional reference collection in a near future, in order to contribute to the growth of northern Brazil botanical knowledge.
