Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract: The Juqueriquerê river bay, is located on the north coast of São Paulo, having a high environmental importance, however, the river has been facing some significant challenges related to pollution, disorderly urban occupation, and deforestation, which is compromising the quality of the water. The lack of basic sanitation is a key factor for the environmental contamination of water resources. Fecal coliforms, such as Escherichia coli, are common indicators of contamination and are associated with several intestinal diseases. This research aims to identify the presence of these water-borne pathogens in samples collected at PNMJ (Municipal Natural Park of Rio Juqueriquerê).
