HERBARY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE STATE OF MATO GROSSO, MATO GROSSO (TANG) Celice Alexandre da Silva, Mara Silvia Aguiar Abdo

Abstract

The TANG herbarium belongs to the campus of the State University of Mato Grosso, municipality of Tangará da Serra, in the state of Mato Grosso. It is an important biological collection that, due to its strategic position, occupies the transition areas of the Cerrado, Pantanal and Amazon Forest Biomes. Although it is a recently created herbarium, it houses a collection of around four thousand specimens, and is fully computerized. In addition, it receives core specimens from areas that are being occupied by large hydroelectric plants in the north of the state of Mato Grosso.
