Abstract

The present study was carried out with the objective of identifying the deficiencies and demands of public transport users in the Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS) Barra do Una, Peruíbe, SP, aiming to discuss the quality of life of local residents. To collect data, local residents were interviewed. Public transport in Barra do Una offers little flexibility; There is a shortage of schedules and basic conditions so that this essential public service could be adequately carried out. There is a significant general dissatisfaction of more than 80% of the residents interviewed, the fact that it is a conservation area makes the development of this resource challenging given that access to the community has restrictions with regard to improving infrastructure. Public transport in the RDS is essential for carrying out strategic planning to guarantee survival in a basic and balanced way between the resident and tourist community that frequents the place, as there are specific items that need to be purchased outside the RDS, such as the neighborhood of Guaraú (18 km) and the center of Peruíbe (25 km). Problems with public transport cause harm to residents, such as difficulties in acquiring goods. Furthermore, the absence of commercial establishments that sell medicines, such as pharmacies, stands out, which interferes with the quality of life of the local population, making the implementation of efficient public transport even more important.
