Abstract
This study aimed to carry out an entomofauna survey at the Environmental Protection Zone Pond (ZPA 5), providing information to assist in the management and conservation/maintenance of existing insect populations in the locality. The research took place between July 2014 and July 2015. Sampling took place with the help of a light trap ("Luis de Queiroz" model) and pitfall traps. A total of 12 samples were taken. The captured insects were marked and sent for sorting, counting and identification level in order with the help of appropriate literature. They were later assembled and deposited in the Entomological Collection of the Research Center of the Dunas de Natal State Park "Jornalista Luiz Maria Alves". A total of 9,982 species distributed in 9 orders were captured, with Coleoptera (4150), Hymenoptera (3245), Orthoptera (987) being the most abundant, respectively. A greater number of collections and the use of various passive and active methods are recommended in order to obtain a more significant sample.
