Abstract
The Barra do Una Sustainable Development Reserve consists of a vast area of Atlantic Forest and associated ecosystems, such as mangroves and restingas, housing a great diversity of birds. This work aimed to carry out a preliminary qualitative inventory of birds in the Barra do Una Sustainable Development Reserve, in Peruíbe/SP. The qualitative survey lasted 4 days, in May 2016, totaling 38 hours of sampling effort, where transects were covered in Vila da Barra do Una, aiming to detect the largest possible number of species. 103 species of birds were recorded, divided into 39 families. Two species are threatened in the vulnerable category (VU), they are the Sapucaia Tanager (Tangara peruviana) and the Black-billed Toucan (Ramphastos vitellinus) and 14 species are endemic to the Atlantic Forest. These preliminary results demonstrate that the reserve is an important refuge for birdlife on the southern coast of São Paulo and Vale do Ribeira.
