Analysis of water quality in the canal in the Northwest Zone, Santos, SP Sergio M. Barragan. L Mattos, Aldo Ramos Santos, Juliana Pereira Guimarães

Abstract

The channels are responsible for the flow of rainwater into the river in the city of Santos, however there are many factors that can influence the quality of the water that flows in these channels, which could compromise the bathing ability of the beaches in Santos and the region. The water quality study in the Northwest Zone in Santos was carried out at one point. Two water quality analyzes will be carried out. Temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, fecal coliforms, total coliforms and E. coli will be analyzed. The results obtained point to the existence of a clandestine sewage connection, compromising the quality of the water in the canal, the beach and the Santos mangrove.
