Factors influencing the bathing ability of beaches in Santos – SP Daniela Colin Lima, Jean Pierre de Moraes Crété, Walter Barrella

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to verify the influence of some abiotic factors on the bathing ability of the beaches of Santos - SP. There were four abiotic factors studied: sea level, intensity and condition of the tide (flood, ebb, high tide and low tide) and rainfall in the municipality. The analysis of the influence between these factors was carried out using Pearson's correlation coefficient. The results of this study point to a negligible correlation between the amount of enterococci and data related to tides and a low correlation between the amount of enterococci and rainfall.
