Abstract

Increasingly, the disposal of solid wastes such as furniture and electronics in public roads is a frequent consequence of the excessive consumption of society, thus contributing to the degradation of the environment. The objective of the present study was to identify the influence of abiotic variables on solid waste disposal in public roads in two cities of Baixada Santista. For this purpose, bi-weekly photographic records of solid waste disposal were carried out on 10 public roads of São Vicente and 10 de Santos, during a seven-month period (May to November 2016). It was verified that from July to October there was a higher index of solid residues found in public streets, mainly in the city of São Vicente, while Santos presented higher indices in the months of September and October. It is concluded that the environmental variables, tide and moon, influence the volume of solid residues found in Santos and São Vicente public roads.
