Abstract

The purpose of the article is to verify the environmental, social and economic impacts caused by the Mariana accident. The specific objectives are to identify the impacts caused by the collapse of the Fundão Dam, which addresses the problem of research to investigate the causes caused by the accident that aims to address the problem of verifying the Social, Economic and Environmental impacts, caused by the lack of responsibility from the company Samarco. The methodology used was qualitative and exploratory. The research showed that the city of Mariana–MG remains the same in structural terms, but economically it was harmed by the decrease in tourism. It can be concluded from this that the accident generated the biggest environmental disaster in the country, this tragedy destroyed the material and immaterial values ​​of the population and was not restricted only to lost objects, but also to cultural assets, there were several damages caused to the environment, the society and the economy.
