Abstract
The HUFU herbarium is a complementary body of the Federal University of Uberlândia and considered a reference and documentation center for the flora of the state of Minas Gerais. It currently houses approximately 74,000 dried plant samples collected in various locations in the states of Minas Gerais and Goiás or received as donations from national and foreign herbaria. In addition to the research activities associated with this important collection, over the last five years, the HUFU herbarium has also promoted extension and teaching activities with the academic community in the city of Uberlândia and its surroundings. These activities involve practical classes on their premises or workshops in public schools. The activities are designed and monitored by the herbarium technician, volunteer interns and postgraduate students and the target audience is students from Elementary School I and II, High School and Higher Education and reach an average audience of more than 800 people per year .
