Abstract
The Nupélia/UEM Herbarium (HNUP), located in Maringá (PR), currently has a collection of approximately 16,000 issues. The main objective of HNUP is the knowledge of riparian flora, including surveys, taxonomic identifications and dissemination both within the scientific community and the community in general, in addition to generating subsidies for ecological studies, biodiversity conservation, recovery of degraded areas and for the Ministry Public. Extension activities include courses, mini-courses and in situ and ex situ visits. A positive impact has been sought on society, the institution and the team, in the training of human resources and in the search for a significant and participatory social transformation, articulating all social spheres. This collection is made up of more than 1,000 species of vascular plants, 938 spp. of periphytic algae, in addition to phytoplankton, mainly from collections carried out in the riparian areas of the upper Paraná River floodplain (MS/PR), Atlantic Forest Biome, Semideciduous Seasonal Forest phytoecological region. Considering only the collections carried out in the riparian forests in the extreme northwest of the Third Plateau of Paraná, we have 567 species, distributed in 386 genera and 105 families. The most representative families, in terms of number of collections, are Fabaceae (1026 specimens), Poaceae (728) and Myrtaceae (547). It is in the computerization phase in the BRAHMS program, with around 55% digitized.
