Abstract
Bromeliaceae is one of the largest neotropical monocotyledon families and has a prominent location as one of the richest groups in the Atlantic forest. However, little is known about the diversity of this family in this important phytogeographic domain. The objective of this work was to identify and list the species of Bromeliaceae that occur in the Parque Dom Nivaldo Monte to increase knowledge about the distribution of these species. This work was developed in the Parque Natural Municipal Dom Nivaldo Monte, which is part of the Environmental Protection Zone 1 (ZPA-1), in the city of Natal / RN, and collected weekly from September to December 2015, being the specimens collected and identified with the aid of specialized material and consultation with the specialist. There were 05 species for the area, distributed in 03 genera. The species were Wittmackia patentissima, Hohenbergia catingae, Hohenbergia ramageana, Hohenbergia ridleyi and Cryptanthus zonatus, being W. patentissima the only bromeliad epiphyte found in the study area. In addition, the species of the genus Hohenbergia have preference for varied habitats. The Bromeliaceae family showed to be very rich and well distributed to the area, making several phytophysiognomies within the park forests, demonstrating the importance of floristic studies in small areas.
