Density of Callichirus major (Say, 1818) on the beaches of José Menino, Santos/SP and Itararé, São Vicente/SP. Fernanda Moschetto, Roberto Pereira Borges

Abstract

The current study evaluated the density of Callichirus major (SAY, 1818) in September 2013 at Itararé Beach (São Vicente, SP) and José Menino (Santos, SP), both located in the Santos Bay. The density calculated by counting the holes of the specie varied along the beaches, obtaining statistically significant differences between the points studied. The highest densities were observed in José Menino Beach, checking a gradual increase in the density of the animal towards to the lower shore.
