Abstract
This work aimed to use the implementation of an agroecological garden as an alternative for learning natural science knowledge and Environmental Education, sensitizing students to improve nutrition and quality of life. The research was carried out from March to November 2015, in a municipal school, located in the urban area of Natal, RN. Students from early childhood education and elementary school I classes (1st to 5th year) participated in the activities, totaling 85 students. The following methodological procedures were used: raising student awareness through conversation circles; selection of spaces for flower beds; fertilization and soil preparation; Seed planting and harvesting. It was possible to verify that the activities developed contributed to awakening critical, creative spirit and curiosity in students, as they were always eager to participate in the activities. The implementation and maintenance of the agroecological garden provided students with changes in their eating habits, and led them to realize the need to think about their environmental responsibility and their well-being, enabling the promotion of a new lifestyle that is less impactful on the environment. environment.
