Abstract

TRADITIONAL ICTIOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE AND HEALTH PREVENTION OF THE FISHERMEN OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF PARANAGUÁ - PARANÁ

Fishing on the coast of Paraná encompasses realities as diverse as the multiplicity of aquatic spaces available for catching fish. Fishing is a high-risk activity, but in the majority of cases accidents with fishing boats and fishermen usually do not appear in the press in general. The objective is to record the local knowledge of the fishermen of Paranaguá - PR related to taxonomy, behavior and ecology of the fish, considering also the health of these fishermen in relation to the potential accidents of work of their profession. Local artisanal fishers were interviewed using the snowball method, and for tabulation, descriptive statistics and data analysis the Excel 2010 program was used.
