Abstract
Insects are indispensable invertebrates in nature, not only as pests present in nature. Practically the whole class is seen as disturbing in the life of the human being, however this thought runs away from reality. Insects are extremely important in several sectors, such as: pollination of plants (eg bees), the food chain (insect-eating birds), trade in insect products (the Cochineal derived from Dactylopius coccus) , among others. The study of entomology allows to understand the morphology of insects, the different mechanisms for feeding, reproductive cycles and to understand the benefits that these organisms bring in nature as well as the harm caused in cultivated plants and even to people and animals, transmitting diseases and causing serious damage to the environment in which they live. Survey and identification of species of the Insecta class that are found and collected in the city of Caraguatatuba and adjacencies, relating their role and their local importance, using traps and the necessary tools for the manipulation of the species and their identification.
