Abstract

The Ecosurf Institute – EI is one organization of civil society, no economic purposes, criated by surfists dedicated and committed to the social justice, ambiental and the culture of peace. The organization understands surfers as a representative community with great potential to contribute to the confrontations needed to improve the quality of life in the coastal areas. The main actions of Ecosurf materialize through projects and campaigns of social mobilization, research, public policies (Advocacy), communication and environmental education. Seeking to contribute to the construction and strengthening of planetary citizenship among surfers, mobilizing and articulating people and groups to intervene actively in the protection of beaches, waves, rivers and oceans.
