Abstract
This paper presents the activities of the Instituto Biopesca, a non - profit association created in 1998 by a group of researchers in Praia Grande, a city on the coast of São Paulo. Since 1998, the organization has expanded its activities, which currently consist mainly of Environmental Education (EA), monitoring beaches and fishing, conducting scientific research and supporting academic jobs. The area of activity covers, mainly, Praia Grande, Mongaguá, Itanhaém and Peruíbe. All activities are, in essence, focused on the conservation of marine fauna.
