Abstract

This work aimed to investigate the environmental perception of primary school students about the environment and Environmental Education. The research was carried out with 118 students of the 6th grade of a private school, located in the urban area of ​​Natal, RN. For the data collection, a questionnaire with seven questions was used. Through the analysis of the obtained data, it was possible to verify that the students are able to visualize several environmental problems of the city in which they reside, as well as, they are able to determine forms and strategies to minimize them, such as: pollute rivers and beaches, separate garbage and plant trees, among others. In general, this research becomes a valuable tool that can help many teachers of basic education in the planning and implementation of proposals and educational activities related to environmental issues, aiming to train citizens who are critical and reflective about environmental issues.
