Abstract
The metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, located in the southern region of Brazil, constituting a zone of ecological tension influenced by the Coastal Plain (area of pioneer formations, vegetation with fluvial or lacustrine influence), Semideciduous Seasonal Forest, Deciduous Seasonal Forest, Steppe and Contact Savannah-Steppe. Because of this confluence of the surroundings and of the anthropic interventions, distinct species, but with synapomorphies, eventually find themselves difficult to identify. In this study, we present features that allow an appropriate distinction between Coussapoa microcarpa (Schott) Rizzini (Urticaceae) and Ficus luschnathiana (Miq.) Miq. (Moraceae).
