Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the improvement of the quality of environmental management in Brazilian port facilities in function of the Environmental Performance Index (EPI). Therefore, a descriptive research with a qualitative focus was carried out on 30 Brazilian public ports that responded to the EPI questionnaire applied by ANTAC in the period from 2012 to 2017. The results obtained in the research clearly show that the port environmental management in Brazil is currently undergoing a process of maturation and continuous improvement, a fact that can be proven when analyzing the historical data series of the EPI evaluations that revealed an evolution of the port environmental management as a whole in the ports evaluated in the period.
