Abstract

Bird inventories are of extreme importance for understanding local biodiversity, as well as the state of conservation of an ecosystem. The city of Bertioga is located in the central coast of the State of São Paulo, in the Atlantic Forest Biome, among stretches of Serra do Mar slopes, restingas, mangroves, sandy beaches, and rocky costs. This topographic diversity is reflected in the environmental conditions that receive both continental and marine influences. The present study had the objective of analyzing data from eleven inventories carried out in the city of Bertioga and nearby, mainly in the coastal area of the municipality from 2011 to 2019. The method used was the transect, with possible stops for better identification of some of the species. A total of 440 species belonging to 76 families were recorded in 75 field trips totaling about 300 h of sample effort on average with 8 observers, since the inventories included participants from the Bird Watchers Club of Bertioga. The families with the highest number of species are Thraupidae (n=46), Tyrannidae (n=40), Accipitridae (n=23) Trochilidae e Thamnophilidae (n=22). Ninety-four species are considered endemic, twenty-two almost endangered, eight vulnerable and one endangered, Aburria jacutinga (Spix, 1825). This list can be used for preservation, conservation and environmental education.
