Abstract
There are no records of the reproduction of Piculus flavigula (Boddaert, 1783) in scientific literature. The nest chosen by a couple was observed in a dead tree during the period of excavation, copulation, posture and parental care in the area of the Municipal Park Ézio Dall'Acqua (Portinho) in the city of Praia Grande, metropolitan region of Baixada Santista, in the State from Sao Paulo. The recording took place from the beginning of August and was completed in November 2018. Observations were carried out for about three and a half months lasting approximately three hours a day. The male and the female took turns in the task of the cuttlefish around 2 to 3 h. In feeding, the parents fed the pups on average every sixty minutes. Cleaning in the nest was performed by removing the fecal bags from the nestlings. After 23 days, the pups left the nest, being possible to confirm the sex of the offspring: one male and two females.
