Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the difficulties that seniors face daily in the urban center of Santos and the programs that the city has been implementing to minimize the generated impacts. A data research methodology and a survey of the applied laws were used. The content analysis resulted that even with the application and enforcement of laws by public agencies and investments in the road system, the rates of accidents with the elderly remain high in relation to accidents with victims, especially in traffic roads. Urban space is also another factor that contributes as a major generator of difficulties for mobility and accessibility of the elderly. Regarding the analysis of improvement actions and compliance with the laws, it was possible to verify, through photographic verification and data from the secretary of infrastructure and works, the application of the programs implemented by the city.
