Abstract

This paper aims to clarify a very important issue regarding urban afforestation. It will discuss the benefits, the problems found in the city of Porto Alegre – RS and the studies carried out for this purpose. The main objective is to inform the population about the risks posed by trees planted in inadequate locations, large species in cramped spaces and useful information about the problem in the city of Porto Alegre. The benefits offered by trees are countless, so there must be a commitment to treat this issue with the greatest possible seriousness, both in terms of providing guidance to the population and in terms of active participation in our public agencies. It is expected that the result will be achieved by offering basic and concrete explanations about this very important and little discussed subject so that the new generations understand and fall in love with a city full of trees, healthy and happy.
