Abstract

 Cigarette smoking by students, staff and passers-by in the vicinity of Santa Cecilia University, between Oswaldo Cruz and Lobo Viana Streets, leaves a large amount of cigarette waste in rainwater drainage ditches, the sidewalk and even the walls of the city. University. Cigarette smoking is harmful to health and can also cause environmental damage. The purpose of this article is to analyze the implementation of alternatives for the irregular disposal of cigarette butts in the accesses to Santa Cecilia University, between Oswaldo Cruz and Lobo Viana Streets. Cigarette butts were collected on 10/29/2019 around 10:00 am until 10:50 am on the streets mentioned in front of Santa Cecilia University, with the registration of photos, quantification and weighing of the collected materials. From the information collected and bibliographic data, it was possible to conclude the irregular disposal of cigarette waste in the vicinity of Unisanta. Irregular disposal of cigarette butts may be due to lack of information for the damage they may cause is due to lack of information, because in the field analysis we can see that the disposal is done randomly, regardless of the smoker where the cigarette is being made. discard. This paper aims to present an alternative for the irregular disposal of cigarette butts in front of Santa Cecilia University, presenting a simple way of disposing of the product in the correct place.
