Abstract
The study aimed to contribute to the characterization of the Anthero dos Santos Municipal Ecological Park, the knowledge of the avifauna associated with this conservation unit, and the record of occurrence within the municipality of Guaratinguetá - SP, in the metropolitan region of Vale do Paraíba. Data collection was carried out based on on-site observations in the area, with their taxonomic and photographic records. The park is linear, with flat relief throughout almost its entire extension, with a slight slope, has basic infrastructure, a lake integrated into the landscape and is in good condition. The observed avifauna is distributed in 72 species composing 31 families. The biogeographic similarity coefficient in relation to the Chico Mendes Municipal Park (Porto Alegre, RS), considered the territorial extension and the occurrence of the species. With a value of 0.33, it showed a low relationship, and the following should be considered as interfering agents in both parks: the urban area around them, the type of anthropic interaction occurring and the availability of resources in the area. It is concluded that the small size of the São Paulo park and the consequent edge effect should act as delimiters of the number of species, which was not evident. It can be inferred that the Anthero dos Santos Municipal Ecological Park is within a similar process of “accommodation”, and the number of species exclusive to these areas may indicate the degree of loss of species due to urbanization in the region.
