Abstract

In the world, approximately 9,000 species of birds are registered, this being the largest group of terrestrial vertebrates. In Brazil, about 1900 species have already been registered, being the country with one of the richest avifaunas in the world. In environments of increasing urbanization and high rates of environmental impacts, surveying fauna is important for the study of conservation; therefore, carrying out surveys in large preserved regions or in small isolated areas is equally relevant. The present study aims to survey the bird species of a private property, located in the Agapeama neighborhood, in the municipality of Jundiaí-SP, as well as their seasonal occurrence and conservation status, thus determining the diversity and composition of the avifauna in an environment close to urban areas. For this, the following methods have been used: visual record, literature survey and auditory record. So far 32 species have been registered, belonging to 23 families. It is hoped that the results of the present study can contribute to add new information about the local fauna.
