Abstract
Invasive species are those that, when introduced into a given region, are able to reproduce consistently and maintain a viable population autonomously. They are also able to disperse to areas distant from the original place of introduction and establish themselves there, invading the new geographic region to which they were taken. This study aimed to discuss aspects related to the occurrence of Citrus X limonia (L.) Osbeck (Rutaceae) in a native forest area in the Faxina region, Viamão - RS. The results suggest that it is not an invasive species, but rather a naturalized species, with dispersion occurring, most likely, by avifauna.
